A trip to the Redrock country of Southwestern Utah the last two weeks of May 2011. We started in Bryce Canyon where temperatures ranged from 32 to 70 degrees and we woke two mornings to fresh snow. We hiked many trails of in Bryce Canyon and were amazed at the incredible formations and colors that change with different light during the day and into the night. From Bryce we travelled to Page Arizona and explored slot canyons, Horseshoe Bend, and a quick day trip to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. This is definitely a place to return and spend some quality time. Since we were so close, it made sense to take a look. Then we moved on to Monument Valley to see the magnificent formations that rise out of nowhere and create a landscape like no other place on earth. Travel is very limited due to the fact you are on the Navajo Reservation, so we were not able to hike and explore the way we would have liked to. We left Monument Valley early and made an unscheduled stop in Moab. WOW, what a spectacular place with two national parks next to each other…Canyonlands and Arches National Monument. This is also a place we would like to return and spend more time. Here is a short slideshow of the trip to give you an idea of what we saw.

Another Sledfest has come and gone, but not forgotten by any means. There was action all weekend with different categories and classes to accommodate snowmobiles and snowbikes alike. The image below is the result of Derick Driggs setting a jump distance of 102 feet! The weather most of the weekend was snowing and blowing but seemed to clear up long enough to get this record attempt out of the way. There was SnoCross, HillCross, Snowbikes, Freestyle and Hilldrags…so there was something for anyone with and interest in high power motorsports action. The 3rd Annual Sledfest at Schweitzer Mtn Resort is April 16-17. This is a fun event with spring like conditions that make for great racing without needing to bundle up. This year will include SnoCross, HillCross, Snobikes, Freestyle, and Hilldrags. What an incredible venue also, with Lake Pend Orielle in the valley below and unbelievable snow conditions. This Hooter’s is providing support at the start and finish lines with ladies to congratulate all the racers. A recent swimsuit competition determined which 5 ladies will help with support staff on the mountain A few pictures are online from the competition, click the image below.Comments Off | Permalink

An excellent weekend for SnoCross, although it was a bit chilly. Plenty of snow and a long track provided for some great racing. Conditions did take it’s toll on riders and machines with a few unable to compete on Sunday. Pictures are online, click the image below to visit the galleries.Comments Off | Permalink

The MWR points circuit kicked off at the fairgrounds in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho the weekend of January 15-16. Warm weather melted all the snow around the track but thanks to early construction of the course prior to the “heat wave”, the track held up through the weekend and provided for some great racing. Snowbikes were also racing at this event and put on a good show for the spectators. The National Guard sponsored the winning bike! All I can say is…WOW…what a beautiful couple. I had the extreme pleasure of being part of Leif and Danielle’s special day. It started out a little sketchy with the weather threatening to dampen the mood but that all changed for the better and turned out woderful. Then we had a pre planned trip to the railroad tracks in Cashmere with the Groom and his men. That was put to a stop when Burlington Northern personnel ran us out of the area, even though we were on an abandoned line! Plan B? Note to self, have a Plan B. We quickly thought of an alternate location not too far away and off we went. The rest of the day went off without a hitch, sort of, Leif and Danielle, they got hitched.
