King of the Hill

I thought this machine was bad BEFORE I put tracks on it. Well, last night I found out how bad it really is with a fresh snowfall of 4 inches of heavy wet snow. With tires, it used to cause the machine to spin and I would need to take smaller “bites” in each pass so I would not lose traction when the blade loaded up with snow. Not the case anymore! I couldn’t stop it. Plus the ability to push the snow into higher piles makes a huge difference now for snow storage. I can climb to the top of the pile instead of the front sinking in as it does with tires.

It was time to update the site, in part since it has become increasingly difficult to add new content to the old site. I won’t bore you with the details, just suffice to say it was old technology and required attention.
You will find links to galleries from past years which look and act exactly the same as before. This homepage (blog) is where I can keep current projects in the forefront. The pages all have search capability of the content within the site. The content searched on is limited to the text that is published in the website pages.
I hope you find the new site easier to navigate. The site also features the ability to comment on posts or page content. Thank you for stopping by and looking around.

To Raffle or Not To Raffle…Not
December 22, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized | Comments Off
I was asked to photograph this beautiful bike for a fund raiser. The original intent was to raffle it off as a fundraising item. What a great idea…unfortunately the raffle did not materialize. I got some great shots of the bike though and had fun setting up and working the lighting. The bike is no longer in Wenatchee, I think it went over to the Seattle area. Someone has a sweet ride!

The Studio (Man Cave)
December 17, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized | Comments Off
After many years of working in cramped quarters and shuffling gear from one part of the house to another, I am finally building a studio, or as Sue calls it, my Man Cave. It will be nice to have space to set up and experiment with different lighting projects without the need to tear down because we need the dinner table to set food on (isn’t that what TV trays are for?).

With help from my brother Gary and close friend Steve, we put this building up in 4 weeks. With a roof on and all the walls up, I can take the winter months to get some of the interior work done. The floor will have to wait until Spring because I plan to put Hydronic heat in the floor, so temperature will be a factor for the pour. Plenty to do in the meantime though. I still need one more window (watching craigslist) and I am in the process of building large barn doors for vehicle entry if needed.
Heres a short slideshow of the construction.
SnoCross Racing

I will be starting my 5th season taking action photos of SnoCross. It has been exciting, to say the least. Each year there are new riders on new sleds, old riders on new sleds, and everyting in between. What a great bunch of folks to be around. The competition is intense and at the same time, there isn’t a rider that would hesitate to lend a helping hand to another when needed. It’s a big extended family with a passion for what they do.

The Wenatchee All-District Musical all cast photo with 183 cast members. What a dedicated and talented group of young performers. It was a real pleasure working with them.
